A product of government policy encouraging office-to-residential conversions, this project transformed a dated office block on Victoria Street into luxurious apartments. Despite the challenges of working around a bank operating within the lower storeys, the building’s structure lent itself to a residential brief, with generous floor-to-ceiling heights, a deep plan precluding smaller homes, and a large service yard which is now decked by a series of south-facing landscaped terraces. Increased volume at a prominent street corner gives interest, emphasis and additional area, while intelligent detailing adds a crafted quality.
